Parkgate Shirley is now Fully Let! – High street names come to new development
Parkgate, the £85 million retail and leisure scheme in Shirley, is now fully let. A flurry of lettings in recent weeks sees more new retailers and eateries join the scheme, which has helped revive Shirley town centre.
The popular and highly successful B&M Stores will open in March 2016. Bridalwear shop Wed2B, Belvoir Estate Agents and Coffee#1 have also signed up to Parkgate and Poundland has taken over from the former 99p Stores. Other newcomers include Bei Capelli Hair Design and, coming soon, Indico, a unique Indian street food outlet.
The residential development has also now been completed and sold, with a total of 123 houses and apartments, further adding to the quality and vibrancy of this important town centre scheme.
Robert Birch of developer Shirley Advance, said, “It is really satisfying to know that, in just a few short months, Parkgate will be completely full, bringing a diverse mix of retail, leisure and food and drink outlets to the town, not to mention Shirley Library and The Gym.”
Shirley Advance submitted a planning application for the regeneration of the former PowerGen site at the end of last month. This 10acre site, opposite Parkgate, will deliver a 261 unit ExtraCare Village, together with 113 traditional homes and a petrol filling station.
