Parkgate over 60% let with six months until opening
Six months ahead of the opening of Parkgate, the new £85 million ASDA anchored mixed-use retail, leisure and residential development in Shirley town centre near Solihull, is making great strides with a raft of new lettings agreed.
Shirley Advance, the joint venture between Helical Retail and Coltham Developments, who are developing the project has successfully concluded deals with Peacocks, 99p Stores, Shoe Zone, JD Wetherspoon, Loungers, Pizza Express, Prezzo, The Gym and Shirley Library. This means that over 60% of the scheme (excluding the ASDA) is now let or under offer.
The focus will continue to remain on letting up the remaining units which are well located within this high quality, open street style development that benefits from a series of pedestrian malls and new public spaces connecting Stratford Road and Shirley Park and a new free of charge 500+ space basement car park.
Parkgate is being marketed by joint agents, Ramsdens and Cushman & Wakefield.
Commenting on the announcement, Jonathan Cox of Helical Retail said:
“We are pleased to be announcing these initial lettings and we are in discussions with a number of other national and regional retailers in respect of the remaining space. For too long good high street retailers, in particular fashion-related retailers, have been y under represented in the area. Parkgate offers a great opportunity to take space in a brand new scheme that is destined to become a vibrant new social and leisure hub. As such, we are confident that Parkgate will be well on its way to being fully let by the time it opens in April next year.”
Parkgate will also deliver more than 120 residential units, including a number of new townhouses and apartments overlooking Shirley Park and an extra-care facility for the elderly. There are also a number of community facilities that are being improved as a result of Parkgate, including Shirley Baptist Church, The Royal British Legion and First Shirley Scout Group.
