Loungers, the West Country based restaurant/café/bar group has opened a brand new site in Shirley with help from the Mayor of Solihull and a group of local nursery children.

Children from The Honey Pot Day Nursery joined Loungers’ Executive Chef Theo Guy for a cookie decorating session and the Major of Solihull, Cllr Mrs Kate Wild, judged a colouring competition.

Loungers has invested £400K at the site in the Parkgate Shopping Centre transforming the venue into a retro home from home, where dramatic art work sits next to oversized vintage sofas and statement light fittings, in the eclectic style much loved by Lounge aficionados.

Barry Chainey, operations manager, Loungers, said: “Shirley is the perfect site for our Lounge concept. There’s already a thriving and vibrant community and we’re really looking forward to playing our part in the foodie scene here.

“Shirley residents will be served by the very best – our new team is passionate about hospitality. Our excellent pre-opening and ‘on the job’ training programme ensures our staff will be at the top of their game. Training includes expert guidance from one of Europe’s most acclaimed baristas.”

Desco Lounge will cater for all tastes throughout the day. Whether you’re looking for the best coffee in town, a business lunch with colleagues or a lazy all-day brunch, Desco Lounge is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The menu features everything from their famous authentic tapas and Smokehouse pulled pork burgers to frittata and the best fish and chips you’ve ever tasted… or there’s the ever changing specials board. Little people are well catered for with their very own kids’ menu.
