Carols round the Christmas tree at Parkgate
Parkgate is marking its first Christmas at the heart of Shirley with the arrival of a 20 ft tall Christmas tree. The magnificent Norway Spruce arrived on 16th November and has pride of place in the middle of Town Square, Parkgate.
Christmas activities continue on Saturday 7th December when Shirley brass band will be playing at ASDA. Then, on Saturday 13th December, the Christmas tree will become the centerpiece for a Carol Service specially arranged by Shirley Churches Together, which will involve all the churches in Shirley and the Shirley Community Gospel Choir. Between 10.00am and 11.30am, local people and visitors are invited to join the group to sing both traditional and less traditional carols and Christmas songs.
Santa will be paying a visit to Parkgate at the invitation of Shirley Lions. He will be parking his sleigh outside ASDA on 20th and 21st December and will be very happy to wish young shoppers a happy Christmas, while raising precious funds for charity.
